Do you ever have one of those weekends where you have to
attend certain things all one after another? That was this weekend for us. It
was insane how we managed to make it to all of the events without any of us
crying/throwing a tantrum (myself included).Saturday, marked Haidyn’s last day of her first swimming
session. We have a week break before we start her second session. She loves the
water so much more than she did. She knew where we were as soon as we arrived-
she could hardly keep still. She’s still getting into the rhythm of learning
swimming basics, but I know we’ll get there in time. You can only imagine the fun Waymon had trying
to put her on her back to float. [: I’ll leave that scenario up to your imagination.
After swim, we were to meet the Mangosing’s for lunch but before that we decided to kill some time
and enjoy story time at Barnes and Noble. She sat down for two books , colored
and played with legos with no complaints. That in itself is all a win for us.
She did hesitate when we had to leave but as soon as we got to my Aunt’s house
and saw everyone she was no longer sad at the fact that we left B&N. Everyone
welcomed Haidyn and in turn she sure enough entertained them until Frozen was
on.
We met Mom and Dad around 5:00 pm to enjoy some sushi! Need
I saw more? We demolished it and everyone was full and happy when we left.
Sunday, was the last day of Hot August Night’s here in
Reno and because it was on our bucket
list we had no other choice but to cross it off! I will tell you that I didn’t
know how Haidyn was going to react to being around loud cars revving their
engines even with her little ear protection on, but she loved it! She did get
bored after awhile seeing all of the cars just drive by, but once she got bored
so did we .
Late afternoon, we headed to Mayberry Park to get a quick
hike in and spend a little more quiet family time together before the weekend
was over. Hiking always has such a calming feeling for us and we use it as an
excuse to get our very anxious toddler out and about in nature. As a kid, I don’t
think I hiked until the summers I was in Nevada (which was like 2 x max) before
actually moving here at the age of 12. It gave us the peace and quiet we needed
to think and reflect a little. Haidyn loved the end of our hike when she got to
plop down in the water and play with all of the rocks with Daddy. He even taught us how to skip rocks. I'm not so great at it, but if I skip rocks like Haidyn does I'm a pro. ( She just throws them in the water to make the water splash [: ). Why do
weekends have to be so damn short?
