Week in Pictures: SF Adventures & Octonauts

This past weekend we headed down to San Francisco for our nephew’s 5th birthday party. It was the weekend we all needed to get out of town for a bit and relax; it was nothing short of perfect. We were a little scared of Haidyn becoming grouchy on the trip but she did so good. She was out an hour into our trip and when she woke up we were in San Francisco just in time for her to “Ohh” and “Ahh” at everything. I think we're slowly but surely becoming the traveling family.

We got into the city a bit earlier than expected so we decided to visit some of the tourist spots. Mind you we’ve been to SF before ( many many times), but this was our first time with Haidyn as well as it being our first time actually seeing SF. Some of the spots we scoped out were:

MRS. DOUBTFIRE'S HOUSE & FULL HOUSE FILMING HOUSE

 CRISSY FIELD & GOLDEN GATE

& THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS.

After our adventures we met up with my cousin Alvin. He took us into his beautiful home. Seriously, I forgot what a clean house and carpet looked like- still so jealous. Haidyn loved meeting him and Lucy! After we got settled in , Alvin offered to tour us around before heading over to dinner at my cousin Ellie’s. We couldn’t have asked for better tour guide. He showed us the ins and outs of the city.

FIRST STOP: JAPANTOWN

SECOND STOP: “THE PAINTED LADIES”

THIRD STOP: MISSION

After our gallivanting in Mission we headed over to Ellie’s for a delicious dinner and finally getting to meet all of the boys! We haven’t seen the boys since Anders was a baby, so this is the first time all of the kids got to mingle and get to know each other. Haidyn was excited about the fact that they took her in so quickly. The boys showed her all of their toys, their cool new bed and showed her a thing of two on how to hang with boys. Needless to say, she definitely can hang with the boys.

Early Sunday morning we headed out to grab a coffee and homemade pop tarts at Matching Half Cafe with everyone and Luc before setting up for Magnus’ party. We were still amazed how amazing the city was and how easy it was to just walk down to your favorite coffee shop. BTW brown sugar pop tart is BOMB!

Before we knew it we headed to Duboce Park to set up for the party. We met up with my aunts and uncles to get everything set up for the special birthday boy. We sounded the Octoalert for our special Octonaut at his birthday brunch. All the food was beyond delicious and the party games kept everyone happily entertained. Haidyn got a little restless towards the end of the party since all she wanted to do was run around with her cousins and cause havoc. So we took a little time to spend at the park before returning for cake and the piñata.

all the cousins

We left the park and parted ways with everyone, but before we headed out of SF we met up with Waymon’s long time friend Cody. It was great to see him after such a long time.  Next time, we’ll have to have our girls meet for the first time.

Before we knew it we were on the road again to Sacramento to catch Seafood City and Jollibee. Could we be anymore Filipino? Haidyn loved all of the goodies we go at Seafood City. I wish I had more time to look around the store and more car space for all of the fresh veggies, but I’m sure we’ll be back soon for all of that. For dinner, we took Haidyn to my favorite childhood restaurant: Jollibee. It’s home of the best Filipino sweet spaghetti and fried chicken. It sounds weird, but trust me it just works. Haidyn ate almost all of her spaghetti without a blink of her eye-it was that good. She got a little bit of it on her face even ;] .

We’re already counting down the days to head back down to SF and hopefully with Jon this time! We’re missing the cool SF breeze. Our mini vacation was perfect. Until next time SF.
