Homemade Training Puppy Treats

I’m obsessed with finding new ways for Rory to thrive developmentally. She’s 4 months old today  and we are all about rewarding for going potty and sitting. She is pretty much crate trained when it comes to being potty trained as well as sleeping through the night without any accidents. We have her on a routine daily so that she knows what to do. She does have accidents here and there ( only because she doesn't like to use a dirty pad) which is good enough for us!  Our goal is to get rid of the Pit-bull stereotype for her and for our family. We want her to feel loved and nothing short of that! She’s doing well with most of the time of going outside to potty and certain commands, so we are so proud! Since she loves my other homemade treats we decided that we could try to make these for her too! We save money and Rory is happy learning from these treats- everyone wins!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 Cup All Natural Peanut Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Warm Water
  • 1/2 Cup Mashed Banana/ Unsweetened Applesauce
  •  1 tablespoon Honey
  •  1 Egg
  • 1 3/4 Cups Wheat Flour

DIRECTIONS

  1.   Mix peanut butter and warm water in a large bowl with a fork until completely smooth.
  2.  Add in applesauce (or mashed banana), honey and egg to peanut butter mixture until combined.
  3.   Add in 1 cup of the flour until well blended and add in remaining flour ¼ cup at a time until mixture forms a dough.
  4.   Chill for approximately 20 minutes before rolling.
  5. Once dough has chilled, on a floured surface roll out dough to desired thickness, about 3/8” thick.
  6. Create your treats by cutting out your desired shapes. I took the bottom of a large marker to create my treats.
  7.  Place all treats onto a lightly greased baking sheet.

  8.   Bake treats at 300 degrees for 30 minutes.
  9.  Once treats are done, shut off oven and leave treats in oven to harden and dry out.

Treats need to be kept in an air tight sealed container.
Since these treats are harden, you may keep them on hand for weeks on end.
    * If they even last that long! *
