Old Navy Summer Mini Haul

I love Old Navy. I love their styles because they’re simple, affordable and very hip to every season. We're definitely not the trendiest family because we'd rather be comfortable in our clothes more than anything else.  Simple staples are our go - to . I also love that I can get all of us clothes from there without hassling if it’s too fancy/too expensive for each of us. I bought all of us something and only spent $60.00! That’s a steal for us.  We needed to add some new items for the Summer time since Haidyn was running low on short sleeved shirt/tanks and Waymon needed shorts- okay he didn’t need shorts, but I didn’t want my husband to die from the heat this summer.

I got Haidyn some graphic tees and tanks! They’re so cute. I couldn’t resist the pug, the mermaid or kitty shirts!

Waymon got a pair of black shorts and a California graphic tee. He loves plain and simple tees so that he can mix and match everything in his closet.

I love their plain, relaxed fit tees. I probably have them in every color imaginable. I love wearing them everyday and matching them with a cardigan for work . These ones have different thread colors in them so they’re technically not one solid color; which I think is soo cool!

This post is up early since I will be recapping our weekend later next week. I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Weekend.

Haidyn is off doing her own thing most of the time now. She HAS to do it herself and you have to let her do it because it’s either you let her do it herself or she will throw a tantrum. Oh yeah, she isn’t shy to let you know (and everyone else) that she is not happy with you at the moment. I’m growing accustom to just letting her do things on her own, while I volunteer my help as needed. We went grocery shopping this week and she insisted that she was done sitting in the cart and needed to push the car now because if Mama can do it, so can she damn it! Nothing is stopping her from getting up and goes!

I’ve watched other parents pick up their children from me for years and I’ve always wished for that kind of excitement in my child. Now, I love that when I pick her up from school she will get so excited (shrieking excited) and come to me! Man does it feel good!   All the stress from work melts away when I see her telling me “Hi” as soon as I pick her up . She knows how happy it makes me too so she will keep doing it or give me a huge hug.

School field trips are better when you're more independent too!

The weather is still on the chili/rainy/stormy side this week. I still love it! How can you not when all you get to do is eat soups and cuddle with my favorite three ( yup I included Sass this time [: ) I whipped up a batch of Tex Mex Chili and paired it with Real Corn Cornbread for dinner this week. Don’t worry I will be posting the recipe to the cornbread this Wednesday. It will seriously blow your minds. Thank you weird Nevada weather so that I can make really good foods to counter you.

We don’t know what else we’re doing this weekend, other than spending it with the Mangosing’s Saturday night. It’s supposed to be a camp out with all of us and I can’t wait! Of course, I already don’t plan on sleeping outdoors because of Haidyn. She doesn’t do well sleeping in places she’s not absolutely comfortable with. So most likely,  we will stay late and catch up with everyone and head home. Other than that, I hope we get to just spend a lot of QT together. That’s always the best time. Waymon has planned a little Gilmore Girl style dinner for Friday to kick off our weekend and I couldn't be more stoked! He's seriously the best husband.

Flashback Friday: DIY First Birthday Chalkboard

Haidyn’s first year was documented in via chalkboard so when it came to her first birthday my husband created a giant chalkboard to jot down all of her favorites. He did such a great job making it perfect for Haidyn. I couldn’t have made a better board even if I tried. It was extremely easy to make, however it did take a lot of patience from my perfectionist husband. I’m so proud of him. So here is all of his hard work for all of you to see. He truly out did himself.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Giant black foam poster board
  • Metallic sharpies

Spring /Summer Lippies

I've become obsessed with lipsticks recently and it's to the point where I've been hoarding quite a bit of them. Every trip to the store also doubles as a trip down each isle of the makeup section. Shh.. Don't tell my husband. I'm loving all of the bright and bold colors that's out there now for the Spring/Summer time since we're finally coming into the seasons! Each one of these beautiful colors you can find at your local drugstores. Here are my go to Spring and Summer lip choices!

Haidyn officially started walking last week, but I didn’t get to write about it until now. I can’t believe my girl is walking! She’s getting around so much more and she loves it. I love that with every step she takes she laughs and claps for herself. She’s so proud of herself and we’re so proud of her as well! Everyone has been telling me that I’m the only one that wasn’t ready to see her walk and I know they’re right. As much as I enjoy Haidyn becoming more and more independent, it is hard to see it happening right before my eyes. I know it’s inevitable, but I’m a huge baby when it comes to knowing that she won’t need me soon. :[

screen shots from her video walking!

I knew that I had to upgrade to bigger frames . I couldn’t settle for eh frames since I need to wear them more often than not now. I’m so excited they finally came! I cried when I put them on. I was so excited to see everything so clear. My plan is to wear them when I’m at work and when I have to work on my computer. Believe it or not that takes more than half of my week! I haven’t worn glasses full time since I was in middle school! I’m diggin the mama geek chic feel of them too. Jon actually was singing the “New Girl” theme song when I showed him for the first time haha.  I’m extremely happy with how they came out and how they look- even if I look my Papa :]

The weather has been gloomy and rainy almost all week now. You would think that I would be depressed, but I’m actually happy that we’re having some precipitation. It’s nice to actually feel /see rain now. I hope that it lasts for a while. We’re definitely going to need it this summer. Selfishly, I want it to be a little cooler for just a bit longer since I bought Haidyn a lot of cute long sleeve tops that she didn’t get to wear yet. Haha I know I’m weird.

We watched my mother-in-law finish her Silver State 50/50 Endurance Run- a half marathon. She is a BEAST! She’s an inspiration when it comes to being motivated with fitness. On any given day she can run up to 13 miles during her training. I’ll give it to her I can barely run 1 mile without dying. Haidyn loved being with Grandpa and Daddy while we waited. My mother-in-law killed it! We’re so proud of her.
