Frankie Ruins the Garden

Our backyard is tiny and cozy. We knew that we weren't up for taking on the responsibilities that came with a big backyard. We also don't need that a big space for it to feel like home. We wanted to make the most out of the space we have .  I was Pinterest inspired to make our little space our own this past spring. We thrifted as much as we could just so it would be cozier. We spent the spring and summer months relaxing and just talking outside .

Don't be fooled , this post is very old and the truth of it is that this is now the only documentation of our backyard being cute. Within, a few weeks Frankie managed to RUIN all of the cuteness. This is also my reminder to not plant cute shit with an asshole dog around ( just kidding, but not really). Waymon warned me, but I hated this space being so ugly. When I get the courage to tell him to shove it I will redo the yard. I'm not even opposed to putting fake flowers out there just so 1) Frankie CAN'T ruin them and 2) so I can't kill everything I touch. ( I only don't kill indoor plants )

Haidyn spends the most time out in the backyard and I wanted to make sure she could spend time out there without dying of a heat stroke. Since this "remodel" we bought an umbrella for a little shade behind Waymon's back. Our defense was that we were sad that Frankie ruined the yard. The excuse worked and we now have a shade :) Haidyn's face in the below picture is an accurate picture of what Waymon looked like when he saw the shade . 

Haidyn's Toddler Room

It's hard to believe that there is no crib in this room anymore, but I'm so in love with the fact she loves this room more than anything. We went with a simple theme  of gold and tribal in her room to incorporate some of her baby things.  And how could I not still keep her cradle board? It's so stunning. We wanted simplicity that made a big impact  We didn't want her to outgrow this theme too quickly either. 

 I feel like the room now feels like it's actually hers. She's all grown up in her big girl bed and toys all put away. I think my favorite part of her room is the canopy and lights at night. Isn't it to die for?

DIY Farmhouse Tables

You know when you look through magazines and stores and you’re always longing for that one particular piece to be in your home? For me that’s always been a farmhouse table. I love the rustic look and feel of the table as well how it fits my family so much better than a regular table does. After much nagging and convincing on my husband’s part we finally took the time to redo our table, end tables and coffee tables all as farmhouse tables.  I don’t know what happened to my husband after years of bothering him for one, but he finally caved to help me. Luckily, for him I get 4 brand-new tables for ½ of the price of one farmhouse table. Everyone wins, but mostly I win.

WHAT WE USED

Polytherne

Wood Stain

1x6 /1x4 boards

Sand paper

I can’t help but gush about these tables. They are beautiful and really a labor of love on everyone’s part. I’m so happy that I decided to redo our tables/chairs instead of spending a fortune to buy something new. Now our tables and chairs are new to us.

How To | Season A Cast Iron Skillet

Let’s talk about how clueless I am on the ins and outs of the glorious cast iron pan. Sad to admit that I actually threw away one before because of rusting… I know, I know I’m ashamed of myself too but times have changed and I’ve done a little studying up on these pans and they are to last me FOREVER. My MIL gifted us this particular pan and I shrieked with excitement. Can you blame me? I finally have a good thing going with my pan and am taking good care of it. It’s taking some time for it to be fully seasoned but here is how I get my pan seasoned.I continue this process every so often to keep my pan "non stick".

MATERIALS

• Cast iron skillet
• Dish soap
• Sponge or stiff brush 
• Clean, dry cloth or paper towels
•  Oil of your choice ( I used canola and olive )

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

2. Wash the skillet with warm, soapy water and a stiff brush.

3. Rinse and thoroughly dry the skillet.

4. Using a paper towel, apply a thin coat of oil  to the inside and outside of the skillet.

5. Place the skillet upside down on the oven's center rack.

7. Bake for an hour to two hours.

8. Turn off heat and allow to the skillet to cool completely before removing from oven.

All That is Dipped is Gold

My obsession of decorating our home is rapidly coming over me. I wanted the more rustic look in our home since nothing, and I mean nothing in our home stays in pristine condition. I’ve tried and it never works in my favor, so deciding that our décor would be a little more rustic chic is perfect for us. My touch to our home is gold- literally. I love the gold dipped look in our home so much that I just about did it to everything. Can you blame me and my love for all things gold? It gives our space a little flare that’s unexpected.  Crazy how far some gold paint and painters tape will take you. I revamped our old tables and vases!
