Family Visit

My sister and her family came down to visit us last week. We don't get to see them as much as we'd like, but when we do get together there's nothing that makes my Mama happier. We spent time at our house having dinner together. Waymon and I didn't get to spend a lot of time with them because we had to work all week, but the dinners were always so nice.

My mom busted out her recipes for our favorite dishes and had no problem making them on a whim. She was proud that she made our favorite dishes and we were happy to eat. Nothing beats a home cooked meal from Mommy. We spent time talking about our past and all of the good times we had. We talked about Jon and how much we missed our little brother... aka the best Uncle our kids have. :) He is always missed.

Ava got to spend time with HER Uncle Waymon. Waymon loved hanging out with Kai and Ava playing video games. Ava was couldn't get enough of her boys. Kai shot up like a weed! I can't believe he is so tall now!

Haidyn got to meet her cousins Kai and Ava.

Haidyn also got to meet my sister. Seeing my sister with Haidyn was so surreal.  I couldn't believe that she was holding my baby. The last time my sister was in Reno, I was taking care of her baby.

My Mama was excited to have her girls together for the first time in a long time. We spent a lot of time taking pictures of the 3 generations of our family.

It never seems like we have enough time together, but we can't wait until we see them again.

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday, June 24th was our 2nd wedding anniversary, but because our lives have changed a lot.  We decided to keep things low key this year and fit in our anniversary celebrations throughout the week:) So here is for my wonderful husband.

Happy Anniversary to my best friend.
These two years of being your wife have been the craziest and best years thus far.

I don't tell you enough of how much I appreciate everything you do for Haidyn and myself.
There's nothing I love more than being your wife and the mother to our child.
It seems like just yesterday we were getting engaged and planning our small wedding.

You will always be the one thing I did right in my life.
I love you so much.

Two Month Favorites

  1. Eddie Bauer 2 in 1 Reversible Head Support - This was given to us at our shower and it's amazing! It supports her head so we never have to worry about her head going all over the place while she's in her car seat. And I just love that it's owls!
  2. Eddie Bauer Stroller Hook- This thing saves our lives when we have to carry around her diaper bag in the stores on their carts or just on our stroller. It's strong enough to carry my heavy diaper bag and helps carry in groceries!
  3. Bright Starts Stroller Toys-Links- These links are perfect for her to learn her grasping. I hook them onto anything and everything for her to grab onto. Bright Starts' toys are great for babies learning skills too. Each toy is designed on their developmental age.
  4. Tommer Tippie Starter Bottle Kit- These bottles have a thermometer in the middle to tell you how warm the bottle is. I also love the design of the nipple and how it resembles an actual nipple. I honestly, think this helped her to not have nipple confusion in her first few weeks.
  5. Vicks Starry Night Humidifier- This humidifier has a built in night light of changing colored stars! It's so neat ! It also has a sleep mode setting which helps her while she's sleeping. Baby girl's nose was pretty stuffy due to my c-section and this helped so much.
  6. Graco Baby Monitor- This monitor is a life saver! It has a range of 6,000 ft and it also has a vibration setting. The vibration setting allows you to monitor if the baby is actually crying and not just fussing.

How to: Make Your Own Italian Style Breadcrumbs

After years of watching Rachael Ray, you learn a thing or two on how to stretch your buck. One of the things that I learned from her was making bread crumbs off of bread that we ended up not eating. You can recreate any type of bread crumbs with any kind of bread you have lying around.

Ingredients:

  1. Day old bread. ( bread that is hard and crusty)  We usually never finish our loaf of French Bread.
  2. 1 teaspoon or so Onion Powder
  3. 1 teaspoon or so Garlic Powder
  4. 1 teaspoon Salt *to taste
  5. 1 teaspoon pepper *to taste
  6. 1 tablespoon or so Italian Seasoning
Directions:
  1. Take bread and place in food processor ( in this case I used my bullet) to turn bread into crumbs.

  2. Take crumbs and place in an air tight container.
  3. Add in all seasonings.
  4. All done!

*If you prefer plain breadcrumbs simply omit the seasonings. And I bet you didn't think it was going to be that easy huh ? ;)
