Christmas 2018

I prepared for this Christmas in advance, just like I said I would earlier this year. All presents were purchased and wrapped weeks ahead of time. When Christmas actually came around this year there was no last minute gifts or food. That never happens. I’m never this prepared and it freaked me the fuck out. I love trying  to keep it all together so when it actually happened I’m not sure what I did right but I’m with it. This Christmas had be questioning myself “why don’t I prepare this much every year? “ Not to self : I’m mimicking everything I did this Christmas next year !All jokes aside, this Christmas was just as great as our Thanksgiving holiday ( is it just me or did it seem like the weeks after Thanksgiving passed so damn slow).

We all split up for the holidays since Waymon and I had to work . Haidyn went off with Hootsee and Papa for the weekend, while Waymon and I finished up her Christmas gift and worked. Haidyn had has no issues going away for the weekend. We’re pretty sure that she prefers to be out there instead of at home. ( We don’t blame her). She spent the entire weekend with family , delivering gifts and hugs to everyone. I , on the other hand, had no idea what to do with myself with no husband and no Haidyn. I love the chaos more than I like to admit. By the end of the weekend, I couldn’t wait to be reunited with everyone.

Christmas Eve, I made pancit, lumpia and pot stickers for the family while we waited for Santa. I was sweating bullets making pancit for the family! I’m thankful I didn’t mess it up or we would’ve been eating frozen pizza.  We made Santa cookies that Santa couldn’t eat because I made too many damn cookies. Haidyn could care less if Santa ate the cookies she made because she saw the gifts under the tree.  Haidyn is definitely a morning person so Christmas day made no difference to her usual routine . She woke up bright and early to make sure she could open everything under the tree. She’s in the running for the slowest present opener but it was amazing open everything with the biggest smile on her face. Christmas day we spent with family eating more than we should, per usual and watching “Christmas” movies. We are all considering Die Hard a Christmas movie regardless of what Waymon thinks. Christmas dinner left us stuffed beyond belief with crab , steak , mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and tiramisu. Mmmmmm can we always eat like it’s the holidays? This Christmas was a great way to end such a great year. We don't do a big Christmas but I feel like we outdid ourselves with Haidyn this year. She was such a good girl this entire year that we felt like she deserved so much more than we gave her. I'm seriously so blessed to have such a good kid.

Jingle All the Way

This past Christmas was probably our best one yet ( minus the fact that we were missing Rory). We even had our own friendmas with my girlfriend's family. Haidyn and I finally have mutually friends and it's pretty awesome.

We spent our Christmas weekend out at my in laws as we try to do every year . Our own Christmas decor was down before we even left. We had a very low key Christmas . We drank and ate too much, but I'm not at all complaining. We spent a lot of time with the family .

There was NO drama and NO fighting. If you know my family, that's some rare shit. (Obviously, not my extended family). It felt so weird with everyone and not fighting over the phone with at least someone. This was exactly how Christmas is suppose to feel. This is how I've always envisioned Christmas to be like.

It honestly didn't feel like Christmas to me, but I knew I had to keep some of the spirit a live with Haidyn. I did my best and got her a elf on the shelf this year. Holy shit, was that thing a pain in the ass. I salute all of you parents out there that take the time to make sure that your elf does something spectacular for when your kid wakes up every single morning. Haidyn was lucky if that elf moved an inch throughout the house. I will say though that her elf motivated her to stay behaved. Haidyn had a weekend in which she was just so awful that her elf "Tonka" didn't even show up for that an entire weekend. Our kid isn't a bad kid, but when she's being a shit it gets pretty rough. All in all Haidyn had a wonderful time with her elf and Christmas. She loves this time of year and I intended to keep it that way.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

OMG This is my Favorite... Christmas

Christmas didn’t feel like Christmas this year because we didn’t get to spend it with Jon, but we made the most of it regardless. Crazy how different this time of year feels without him.  This was the first year that Haidyn kind of understood what the heck was going on. She loved all the lights, Santa Claws and the little snow we got Christmas morning. She was thrilled that to wake up knowing Santa dropped of her presents for her, even if she was a naughty girl the night before.  She’s spent weeks telling everyone around her “Merry Kissmas” as if it were a “thank you”.

No matter what she got for Christmas she always said, “OMG Mama this is my favvvorite “. How could you not melt after her saying that? Her actual favorites from her presents we the little bikes we got her a multicolored hair brush that also came with her need to brush everyone’s hair.

We had such a good Christmas, but I couldn’t wait to take down all of the decorations. No joke, I took down everything in an hour after we opened everything on Christmas day. Your girl doesn’t mess around. I’m happy to have my house back even though I’m was a little sad to see it all go. The holidays are almost over and I can’t believe it came and went with a blink of an eye.

Hoping all of you had a wonderful Christmas.
