Fourth of July

We made the best out of Fourth of July holiday this year since it happened to land right in the middle of the week. Any excuse Haidyn has to be out at her Hootsee and Papa’s house she is taking full advantage of and counting down the days until she’s there.   Typically we spend the holiday with our holiday with the family out at the lake but this year everyone had to work the day of or the day after so a lake day didn’t pan out. We made it out to Wadsworth in enough time to spend a couple of hours at the lake for a day and have Haidyn chill in her pool for the rest of the time. She has no qualms of being in the water for any given amount of time .

Little fact about myself, I can’t swim. It’s a stupid fact and I know that I need to figure out my life and learn but right now its not happening. Haidyn learned that her Hootsee and Daddy CAN swim so at the lake no f’s were given about me giving her tips on how to build a sandcastle  because I didn’t know how to swim like Hootsee and Daddy . She wanted to swim with them, which was the cutest sight ever. I got in the water for a bit to sit / stand in because it was too damn hot outside but eventually ended up back at the tent to read.

After our lake day, we spent the rest of our time relaxing at home. Fernley has some pretty gnarly fireworks but I didn't want to deal with the crowds, lines or Haidyn freaking out because of how close the fireworks actually are . We opted to avoid all the drama and set off some sparklers. Good thing we kept it simple because it was so windy by the time we were setting them off that it took us a good 20 minutes to find a good spot / way to light them off.

Haidyn stayed with her grandparents for the remainder of the week while Waymon and I had to go back to work for one lame day . Haidyn was already begging to go back to Hootsee's as I was picking her up. I feel you baby girl being out at Hootsee and Papa's is my favorite too. I can't believe that summer is almost over! I can't wait for our other summer trips!

Six Years | The Last Vans Warped Tour

The closest last vans warped tour landed on our sixth wedding anniversary weekend. We weren’t planning on going but Waymon surprised me with tickets to go and I couldn’t say no to him.  This weekend also doubled as a mini getaway for us, which ultimately met that we were going to stop by IKEA. For those of you that don’t know, the nearest IKEA Reno has is 200+ miles away in Sacramento and because of that distance every single trip to California is carefully thought out to make a pit stop here.

Our mini getaway turned out amazing. We saw the bands we loved for the very last time at the warped tour. This would be our 2nd warped tour together but this time we went just the two of us, which we’ve never done before. It was so nice spending an afternoon at a music festival with him. We don’t have very much in common but because of Waymon my taste in music is broadening. We joke that he gave me his love for baseball, music and I gave him patience and sushi. This festival like all others was hot af.  I don’t know how we use to stand in the heat with no water back in the day, but we did. At the peak of the heat Waymon got to see one of his favorite bands live and meet them. I’ve never seen him star struck before. He was fangirling as much as his tough exterior would let him.

After the festival we decided that Ubering was too difficult so we found some awesome Lime bikes to test out. Disclaimer : these bikes are not for anyone that is as tall as me. Waymon was stressing out at the fact that I couldn’t stop the damn bike at every crosswalk. I couldn’t even reach the road when I was on the bike. I also can’t even tell you the last time I rode an actual bike – it has to be yearsss since I’ve done so. Whatever you do, don’t ask Waymon’s opinion on this subject  he’ll just stress out even more. We spent the rest of the night with family and exploring the Palo Alto / Mountain View Area. Haidyn spent the day with her Hootsee not being spoiled. 😊

Sunday was our Ikea day! We’ve envisioned our new living room area for months now and we were finally going to buy everything to put it together. Josh came through to help with loading , shopping and to hang out. We always love when Josh comes to hang out. Of course, Haidyn was ecstatic to see her Uncle Josh and talk his ear off. Literally the kid won’t stop talking anymore but at least now she’s making sense with actual sentences and not gibberish. I can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve dreamed up! Before heading home, we headed to Ikeda’s ( I know it’s confusing ) for some lunch. We stuffed our faces with burgers, sandwiches and pie!

Spending our anniversary with the people we love the most made this anniversary a great one. I’ve always tried to plan some lavish dinner or trip for our anniversary but it never turns out the way I want it to. This year was perfect . Here’s to forever with you.
