Christmas 2018

I prepared for this Christmas in advance, just like I said I would earlier this year. All presents were purchased and wrapped weeks ahead of time. When Christmas actually came around this year there was no last minute gifts or food. That never happens. I’m never this prepared and it freaked me the fuck out. I love trying  to keep it all together so when it actually happened I’m not sure what I did right but I’m with it. This Christmas had be questioning myself “why don’t I prepare this much every year? “ Not to self : I’m mimicking everything I did this Christmas next year !All jokes aside, this Christmas was just as great as our Thanksgiving holiday ( is it just me or did it seem like the weeks after Thanksgiving passed so damn slow).

We all split up for the holidays since Waymon and I had to work . Haidyn went off with Hootsee and Papa for the weekend, while Waymon and I finished up her Christmas gift and worked. Haidyn had has no issues going away for the weekend. We’re pretty sure that she prefers to be out there instead of at home. ( We don’t blame her). She spent the entire weekend with family , delivering gifts and hugs to everyone. I , on the other hand, had no idea what to do with myself with no husband and no Haidyn. I love the chaos more than I like to admit. By the end of the weekend, I couldn’t wait to be reunited with everyone.

Christmas Eve, I made pancit, lumpia and pot stickers for the family while we waited for Santa. I was sweating bullets making pancit for the family! I’m thankful I didn’t mess it up or we would’ve been eating frozen pizza.  We made Santa cookies that Santa couldn’t eat because I made too many damn cookies. Haidyn could care less if Santa ate the cookies she made because she saw the gifts under the tree.  Haidyn is definitely a morning person so Christmas day made no difference to her usual routine . She woke up bright and early to make sure she could open everything under the tree. She’s in the running for the slowest present opener but it was amazing open everything with the biggest smile on her face. Christmas day we spent with family eating more than we should, per usual and watching “Christmas” movies. We are all considering Die Hard a Christmas movie regardless of what Waymon thinks. Christmas dinner left us stuffed beyond belief with crab , steak , mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and tiramisu. Mmmmmm can we always eat like it’s the holidays? This Christmas was a great way to end such a great year. We don't do a big Christmas but I feel like we outdid ourselves with Haidyn this year. She was such a good girl this entire year that we felt like she deserved so much more than we gave her. I'm seriously so blessed to have such a good kid.

Thanksgiving 2018

I always look forward to Thanksgiving every year not just because of the food but because of the amount of time I get to spend with my family. We spent this holiday week at the movies. We’ve never been at the movies this much before, but I enjoyed it. We watched Fantastic Beasts, Wreck It Ralph and Creed II !  Haidyn loves going to the movies now which is just a plus to her movie taste! I’m sure that watching a movie on thanksgiving will be one of our new traditions.

Thanksgiving day , MIL and I bundled up to walk/ run the Fernley Turkey Trot with the wonderful KAIA ladies.  She ran, I walked snail speed.  We planned a simple dinner menu with a ton of easy appetizers for us to snack on all day long. Does it get better than endless apps?   We all spent the day in comfy clothes with exception of Haidyn dressing up for pictures. Oh yes, we faked those pictures pretty well. No mini-vacation time is complete without sweats. We’re finally getting the hang of relaxing during this time of year.

After spending a few days in Wadsworth , we sped back home to put up our Christmas tree! Oh yes, the entire house went from Fall to Winter in 2.5 seconds. Haidyn and Frankie were all about this decor change. Can you tell they absolutely love this time of the year?

Halloween 2018

I'm that Mom that will do anything I can to make sure we have matching Halloween costumes as a family. This was very difficult this year because Haidyn is always dressing up regardless if it is Halloween or not. She lives to be in anything that isn't "normal" clothes. I can't even be mad because her dressing up everyday is just so rad. This year she couldn't figure out what WE should be together as a family so I mad the executive mom decision and decided that WE were all going to be Costco themed !

I mean come on! No one else is more obsessed with Costco than us and more important Haidyn . There's something about a Costco hot dog and pizza lunch that just does something to ya girl. Also , this was probably the easiest costume that we've ever put together as a family. I needed something quick and easy after coming back from vacation and this just solved all my worries.
This was the first time we've ever trick or treated in our own neighborhood and Halloween that we got to also spend with Waymon! Last year , he didn't make it to trick or treat with because of his work schedule but not this year. :)  It was such a good turn out for a neighborhood that doesn't have a lot of kids in the area. I was so pleased that we all had a great time hanging out in our own neighborhood stress free.

Genoa Candy Dance

We’ve never been to the Genoa Candy Dance, but apparently is a thing here in Nevada.  ( Like a big thing ) It’s so much closer to home than our usual Apple Hill trip. (I’m still so sad that we won’t be making it to Apple Hill this year). Haidyn was excited to go with the family because of the name of the event alone. Sadly, she was disappointed that it wasn’t a festival dancing around to candy. She envisioned an entire crowd getting down while throwing candy in the air.

Even without the candy throwing dances we had a great time spending the day shopping with all the "gypsies" as Waymon would call it. It was an entire girls day event ! We traveled to Genoa with all the girls and ran into our BFF little sister E along the way. Aren't they the cutest?!?

This event was so neat!  I know that the next time we go I have to bring a lot more money ( or my own lunch) and go a earlier than we did. We didn't get any candy Haidyn actually liked  but the experience was worth it over all. It was a beautiful day to relax and walk around with the family.  Haidyn was thrilled to go home with new RIDICULOUS unicorn bedazzled headbands and the most obnoxiously loud fake gun money can buy.
